Do you feel that your laptop is running hot? Or, do you notice that the “cooling fan” is coming on more often (and maybe resulting in a chronic annoying noise?)
It is not a matter of if, but rather a matter of when that you will need to consider:
#1 Â Clean all dust out of all cooling vents using compressed air.
Beyond that, another option is
#2 Â Newer computers have new CPU chips that do not heat up as much.
Regarding #1, we used canned compressed air. We always had canned compressed air on hand for camera lens cleaning.  All computer and office supply stores sell canned compressed air.
Regarding #1, ONLY CLEAN OUTSIDE! You will see why when you clean your computer. (Flying dust, oftentimes dust balls, pretty surprising.) Best to carry your computer outside and set it on a table or chair before blowing the compressed air through all cooling vents.
Regarding #2, we just started using new laptops this week. The best thing so far our team members have said is that the new models just do not get hot at all! fwiw, the new computer models are:

Regarding #1, there are many equally satisfactory brands of compressed air sold. Following is a brand that we just happen to have in our supply cabinet right now (bought in bulk at Costco … lol):
